Lowe's is now hosting in-store birthday parties for children through a pilot program aimed at inspiring the next generation of builders and giving parents a one-stop party solution, according to a media release.

Launched Jan. 19, Lowe’s “Build a Birthday parties build upon the home improvement retailer’s existing monthly workshops for kids. The program allows parents to book a paid, private party in one of 10 Lowe's stores in the U.S. (See bottom for locations of participating stores.)

Kids can choose to build projects such as wooden castles, race cars or custom wall shelves. The party packages provide DIY project kits — which include safety goggles, aprons, party construction hats and all necessary supplies — for 12 kids with the option to have up to 20 kids participate.

Each two-hour party will be led by a Lowe's Red Vest Party Captain who will offer hands-on knowledge and assistance to party guests. Offered to kids ages 5 and up, party packages are available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the select stores.

Parents can also upgrade the experience with pizza, drinks and desserts from Domino's, as well as Lowe's party favors such as t-shirts, water bottles and backpacks.

Lowe's will offer $100 store gift cards to the first 50 parties booked via its dedicated web page within Lowes.com. To be eligible for a gift card, parties must be booked by April 17, and the host must return an online party survey by May 1. Lowe’s also hopes to grow awareness of the new offering by encouraging builders to share their Build a Birthday experience on social media by tagging @LowesHomeImprovment and using the hashtag #LowesParties.

"Home improvement is about the whole family, and that's why we have Weekending at Lowe's events every Saturday at our stores, including our kids' workshops that help us feel connected to our littlest DIYers," Jen Wilson, senior vice president, enterprise brand and marketing, Lowe’s, said in the release. "And this launch is a natural extension of that relationship. Not only do we want to inspire future builders, but we want DIY and Lowe's to be an integral part of family milestones and memories."
