Lowe's has debuted live, interactive workshops where customers can learn basic home repair and maintenance DIY skills from the retailer’s knowledgeable red vest associates at select stores.

Lowe’s Home Repair Workshops expand upon the retailer’s DIY-University (DIY-U) learning platform, which launched in 2022 and primarily targets Millennials homeowners, according to a media release. Inspired by the digital instructor and at-home learning boom, the platform offers how-to instructions for home improvement projects in-store and on-demand. It also addresses Millennials’ lack of confidence and knowledge when it comes to home improvement skills as well as their desire to save money on repairs.

As of Nov. 11, Home Repair Workshops are available at 100 stores across the U.S. on Saturdays and Sundays. The hands-on classes help DIYers and homeowners develop their home repair skills and tackle common household projects, such as:

  • How to repair, replace or unclog a toilet.
  • How to replace a faucet and fix drainage issues.
  • How to replace different types of outlets and switches.
  • How to patch and repair drywall.

Participating Lowe's stores have stations dedicated to the workshops, with quick, interactive demos available all day during normal store operating hours, no registration required.

With the median age of homes over 41 years old, according to the U.S. Census Bureau 2021 American Housing Survey, homeowners are prioritizing projects like repairs and regular maintenance to update their homes and extend the time they will live there, while also avoiding costly repairs down the road, per the release. Lowe's red vest associates have a wealth of knowledge and resources available to customers looking to take on these projects themselves, from providing demonstrations, project tips and tricks, and product recommendations.

"We know Millennial homeowners can use some extra help when it comes to tackling basic home repairs, especially since more basic projects can help them save money versus hiring a professional for the project,” Jen Wilson, Lowe's senior vice president, enterprise brand and marketing , said in the release. “These Home Repair Workshops are just one way Lowe's is investing in this generation of homeowners."

MyLowe's customers who participate in an in-store workshop can also receive a digital coupon book offering savings on common repair products, corresponding with the workshop topic they attended. (Participants must have a personal MyLowe’s account and ask an associate to validate attendance to register to redeem the book.)

Coupon promotions available to workshop participants may include:

  • 10% off select toilets.
  • 15% off select vanities.
  • 20% off select bath faucets.
  • 20% off select USB outlets.
  • 25% off toilet repair kits.
  • 50% off 2x2 drywall repair patch.

Lowe's also provides on-demand videos, how-to articles and interactive resources to DIYers of all ages to assist them with at-home project ideas, best practices and recommendations on Lowes.com/DIYU.
