Fourth of July Shopping Trends

About 60% of shoppers plan to spend $50 or less for the Fourth of July holiday this year, according to Breaktime Media.

Breaktime surveyed 957 shoppers to find out how they're celebrating the U.S. occasion, what they’re purchasing and where.

A total of 53% of survey respondents selected grocery stores as the place where they shop for Fourth of July necessities. Walmart came in second place with 23% and warehouse clubs landed third with 9%, according to the survey.

Almost half of the survey takers selected burgers as their July Fourth main course item. A generic "other" category received 11% of the vote, followed by hot dogs at 10%.

For desserts and side dishes, ice cream and potato salad topped their respective categories after each being selected by 31% of survey takers. The most popular drink was soda at 19%, followed by ice tea with 18% then water and beer tied at 16%.
