It’Sugar Opens Shop Inside Macy’s on Chicago’s State Street

U.S. specialty candy retailer It'Sugar is expanding its physical footprint in Chicago just ahead of the holidays, this time within a Macy’s flagship store located along one of the city’s popular shopping districts.

Located at 111 North State Street, It’Sugar’s new store-within-a-store concept spans 1,245 square feet and stocks thousands of confections, humorous novelty products and candy-themed gifts.

“We are thrilled to open an It’Sugar shop in Macy’s State Street,” Jonathan Schwartz, vice president real estate & business development of It’Sugar, said in a media release. “We look forward to bringing a fun and sweet experience to the heart of Chicago’s iconic shopping destination.”

This store joins It’Sugar’s existing Chicago locations on Michigan Avenue and at Navy Pier. Last year, the candy retailer opened an 11,400-square-foot experiential pop-up location on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, taking over a vacated Disney Store. The unique shopping destination included an 11-foot Ferris wheel candy display surrounded by a lollipop garden merchandising over a thousand lollipops and a Chicago skyline made entirely out of jellybeans commands shoppers attention. 

Later in 2022, It'Sugar also opened a 20,335-square-foot pop-up in New York's Times SquareThe experiential candy emporium, as It’Sugar called it, included immersive candy experiences and “over-the-top” product displays.

It’Sugar’s permanent department stores  including at American Dream, located right outside Manhattan, and in Honolulu's Ala Moana Center  feature stations housing hundreds of different kinds of candy, with exclusive flavors of Mars Wrigley Confectionery's Skittles, Mondelez International's Sour Patch Kids and Pez candy and dispensers. They also include immersive areas devoted to retro and international candy, TikTok-trending treats, and other themes to provide entertainment to customers.
