Regional grocer H-E-B has unveiled renovations made to a store in central Texas, which includes upgraded departments and a larger product assortment.

Located in the small town of Burnet, Texas, the more than 43,000-square-foot store features an enhanced design to the store’s exterior as well as interior updates with new finishes, signage, lighting, equipment and fixtures, according to a media release.

  • A self-checkout area.
  • A curbside pick-up area.
  • An updated bakery department with its in-store tortilleria for fresh tortillas made in house, a larger selection of artisan breads made daily and large varieties of desserts, pastries and cakes.
  • An enhanced and redesigned produce department prioritizing freshness and organic options.
  • An expanded deli, including a variety of specialty cheeses, meats and dry goods.
  • A larger floral department.
  • An expanded assortment of craft beer and wines from around the world.
  • Expanded dairy and frozen departments.

  • An expanded pharmacy with a drive-thru and Wellness Rooms for expert prescription care, immunizations and health screenings.

Renovations to the store, which has been there since 1976, began in October 2022. The store remained open during the renovation process.

In related news, earlier this month, H-E-B opened a new 117,000-square-foot store in Allen, Texas. This store is H-E-B’s fourth opened in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area in the past year as it continues its expansion in north Texas.

H-E-B designed the store to reflect the character of the local community and emphasize sustainability, incorporating several energy-efficient inclusions such as CO2 refrigeration units and LED lighting, per the release.

The store’s opening came after H-E-B announced plans for additional DFW-area stores in Melissa, Prosper and Rockwall. Additionally, the retailer says it will introduce Joe V’s Smart Shop by H-E-B to the region, the retailer’s discount format that offers a curated assortment of community focused products.
