Walgreens has evolved the charitable donation component of its myWalgreens loyalty program, now allowing members to donate their Walgreens Cash rewards directly to local nonprofits in their community via walgreens.com or the Walgreens mobile app.
Originally, members could only donate their rewards directly to one rotating national charity, such as Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day or Vitamin Angels.
Walgreens collaborated with in/PACT, a platform that lets consumers direct rewards to charities of their choice, and the GoodCoin Foundation to create and launch the cloud-based solution within its loyalty program.
The charities will rotate every 90 days, and members will see three local charities as well as one national partner at a time.
