Unilever Makes Meals that Make an Impact

By Jacqueline Barba - 02/06/2018

Unilever dropped a multi-page FSI event on Jan. 28 focused on sustainable living and new products.

The event’s first page encouraged consumers to “make meals that do more” and join the manufacturer's mission to improve food access and education for underserved communities. FSIs throughout the event directed consumers to visit makemealsthatdomore.com for nutritional information, sustainable recipes and related content. The URL lands on the manufacturer's broader learnaboutmyfood.com website, which touts Unilever's many efforts to develop more sustainable, transparent brands.

Further promoting healthy diets, the FSI event delivered a “best ever tasty burgers with toppings” recipe suggesting a more nutritious and sustainable alternative to red meat while also incorporating Hellmann's or Best Foods mayonnaise.

The rest of the event was devoted to highlighting new products. Axe touted its Axe Gold collection with a full-page spread dangling a free body spray with purchase of the new Gold shampoo, and $3 in savings with purchase of two body washes from the line.

Dove urged consumers to “try the latest in superior care,” delivering up to $9 in savings for its new DermaSeries and Nourishing Rituals lines. Dove Men+Care invited consumers to “experience superior care” with “award winning grooming products designed specifically for men’s skin," dangling four different manufacturer’s coupons.

Other new products included:

  • Dove Men+Care DermaCare scalp shampoo and conditioner
  • Suave Professionals rose oil infusion shampoo and conditioner
  • Country Crock "buttery sticks"
  • Lipton organic black tea
  • Lipton matcha, green teas and herbal supplements

Among co-op activity, CVS/pharmacy received two FSIs dangling $4 in ExtraBucks Rewards to cardholders with purchase of $12 worth of participating Axe products, plus $2 in savings on any one Vaseline lotion. Walgreens got an FSI offering Balance Rewards cardholders 3000 bonus points with purchase of $15 worth of participating Dove products and a "buy one, get one 50% off" deal on select Dove SKUs.

Other brands represented in the event included Noxzema, Caress, Tums, Aquafresh, Polident, Poligrip, Benefiber and Biotene.
