Tostitos Cinco de Mayo Sweeps
PepsiCo's Frito-Lay launched a fun social sweepstakes in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, leaning on its Tostitos Cantina brand of chips. The campaign asked consumers to visit the Tostitos website and customize a digital pinata avatar of themselves and share it over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the #TostitosPinataParty and #Sweepstakes hashtags. A daily drawing for the week leading up to the holiday delivered an actual version of that avatar pinata to a winning participant along with $1,000. No word on what's inside the pinata. The avatars were fun to build using the options given, similar to creating a Bitmoji character (referring to the popular mobile app). Tostitos created a music video for the campaign with songwriter Adam Schlesinger and shared it on the Tostitos site and YouTube.
