ShopRite Thanks Essential Workers
ShopRite is running an “Essential Thanks” campaign to raise money to help regional food banks facing increased demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The effort encourages consumers to post thank you messages for healthcare workers, first responders and supermarket associates via the dedicated website essentialthanks.com or on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #EssentialThanks. For every post made from April 20 to June 30, ShopRite parent Wakefern Food Corp. will donate $1 (up to $500,000) to a food bank in its operating area. Wakefern also made a $1 million donation to regional food banks this month via its ShopRite Partners In Caring Fund.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has put the spotlight on what it takes to keep our communities safe and healthy every day and in times of crisis,” Wakefern chief executive officer Joe Colalillo said in a media release. “We ask you to join us in thanking our store teams, warehouse workers, truck drivers, healthcare and all frontline workers for the incredible job they are doing each day by going to work to support and serve their communities.”
TV spots, email ads and updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are promoting the campaign.
