After more than 38 years in the business, SFW president Peter Mitchell retired from day-to-day operations at the end of 2019. Mitchell will remain on staff as senior advisor.
Mitchell, with business partners Ged King and Matt King, have grown SFW over the past six years to 60 full-time employees in the company’s Greensboro and Raleigh offices. The agency more than doubled its revenue between 2016-2018.
“The only full-time job I’ve ever had is working for a marketing agency,” Mitchell said at an internal retirement celebration. “And though I still love our business and working at SFW, one of the most important decisions you can make during your career is knowing when to hang up the cleats.”
“Peter is one of the most versatile marketing and advertising pros I’ve ever met,” SFW CEO Ged King said. “He can guide an account, build a client relationship, develop positioning and strategy, contribute to campaign development, inspire the staff and then write the handshake letter that helps the company win new business. Peter is a good friend, and he will be missed.”
