SE Grocers Fuels a New Rewards Program
Southeastern Grocers rolled out a new retailer-wide loyalty program last month.
SE Grocers Rewards cardholders earn one point for every $2 spent on qualifying items and present the card at checkout to receive most sales pricing and use digital coupons. One hundred points can be redeemed for $1 off groceries or 5 cents off per gallon of fuel at participating gas stations. Members also receive personalized weekly emails and Gold Status in Shell's Fuel Rewards program to receive 5 cents off per gallon of gas (up to 20 gallons) purchased at Shell stations without spending any points.
Stanchion signs positioned outside of stores promote the new program, with radio spots, carousel ads on chain home pages and email ads supporting. Circular features tout the program along with the some of the hundreds of products each week whose purchases earn bonus points.
The retailer marked the July 18 launch by hosting events at select Shell stations where the first 100 customers received a free tank of gas (worth up to $40), a tote bag filled with groceries and a store gift card valued between $5 and $500. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram updates promoted the events.
Developed by Dallas-based Excentus, the SE Grocers rewards program has been in the works since April when news dropped that the American Express' Plenti loyalty program would be ending on July 10. The retailer had shuttered its banner-specific rewards programs to join Plenti in April 2017. Rack signs, checkout signs, circular features, email blasts, and Facebook and Twitter updates announced the pending changes and encouraged members to sign up for the new program to have their Plenti points transferred to their new account.
