P&G, Walgreens Ask Shoppers to BYOG

By Tim Binder - 11/24/2020

Procter & Gamble brought a four-week “holiday rebate” program to Walgreens in November that promises a $10 store gift card with purchase of four qualifying products from some of the manufacturer’s personal care brands.

Shoppers who purchase four eligible items from Gillette, Gillette Venus, Secret, Olay and Old Spice from Nov. 1 through Nov. 28 need to submit their receipt on a dedicated P&G promotional site to receive the gift card via mail.

The rebate offer is paired with a “buy one, get one half off” deal available to Walgreens loyalty program members — at first Balance Rewards and then myWalgreens, as the retailer’s new program launched mid-month.

The retailer promoted both offers in BYOG (Build Your Own Gift)-themed features in its Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 22 circulars.

In stores, dedicated endcaps stock the eligible items while prominently calling out both the rebate and the BOGO offer. The program and the display were produced internally at P&G.
