Dollar General, Reese's Dangle a Year's Supply of Chocolate

Dollar General and Hershey Co.'s Reese's recently wrapped a sweepstakes awarding 10 grand-prize winners a year's supply of Reese's peanut butter cups each.

Consumers entered the "Reese's Lover's" sweepstakes from April 22 through July 5 via a Dollar General- and Reese's-branded website ( by voting on their favorite Reese's flavor: Reese's peanut butter, dark peanut butter, white peanut butter, "Chocolate Lovers" or "Peanut Butter Lovers" cups. A display ad within the retailer's website touted the sweeps. PrizeLogic, Southfield, MI, administers. 

The account-specific sweeps was an overlay to the brand's national effort spotlighting the new, limited-time Reese's "Chocolate Lovers" and "Peanut Butter Lovers" cups. A national sweeps awarded 25 winners each a year's supply of Reese's SKUs (in the form of 384 Reese's "King Size" bars). Consumers entered via from May 1 through July 2. PrizeLogic also administered the national sweeps.

In related news, Dollar General also partnered with Reese's to offer shoppers a "Reese's Rewards" digital coupon for $2 off the purchase of $7 worth of participating Reese's SKUs. Display ads within and shelf talkers touted the Reese's Rewards coupon. Though the display ads communicated the deal was valid through the Dec. 31, the offer does not appear to be available as a digital coupon at this time. Instead, a "buy three get one free" digital offer is available on Hershey SKUs from brands including Reese's through July 20.

Last year, Reese's also teamed with 7-Eleven for a similar deal, allowing loyalty cardholders to earn a free Reese’s SKU after the sixth eligible brand purchase.
