Tyson Foods, Springdale, Arkansas

The company named Garrett Olson vice president of finance for the meat processor’s Retail Packaged Brands group.

Unilever, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey

The manufacturer appointed Aline Santos to the role of senior vice president of global marketing. She replaces Marc Mathieu, who left in June to join Samsung. Santos has worked at Unilever for more than 25 years.


Albertsons, Boise, Idaho

The supermarket operator has named Anuj Dhanda executive vice president and chief information officer. Dhanda comes from supermarket chain Giant Eagle, where he was CIO and senior vice president. Joe Kelley, a former Ahold USA executive, has been named VP, marketing and merchandising, for the Shaw’s and Star Markets division of Albertsons.

Kohl’s Corp., Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

The retailer has named Sona Chawla as its new chief operating officer. The move comes two years after Walgreens elevated Chawla to the newly created position of president of digital and chief marketing officer. She spent seven years with Walgreens in a variety of senior leadership roles including president of e-commerce. Prior to that, she was vice president of global online business at Dell Inc.

Lowe’s Cos., Mooresville, North Carolina

The home improvement retailer promoted Marci Grebstein to the position of chief marketing officer. She previously served as vice president of advertising. Grebstein succeeds Thomas Lamb, who left the company after nearly 17 years. Lowe’s also promoted Erin Sellman to senior VP of strategy, insights and planning.

Supervalu, Eden Prairie, Minnesota

The company named Eric Claus chief executive officer of discount grocery chain Save-A-Lot. Claus, who has 30 years of retail experience, was formerly CEO of Red Apple Stores in Canada. Supervalu also announced that Ritchie Casteel will serve as president of Save-A-Lot, reporting to Claus.  

Walmart, Bentonville, Arkansas

Walmart named George Riedl to the position of senior vice president of health and wellness. Riedl most recently held responsibility for sales, marketing strategy and operations as president of Advanced Marketing & Sales, an independent sales, marketing and consulting agency working with CPGs. He also previously spent 27 years at Walgreens, advancing from pharmacy apprentice to chief merchant.

Dollar General, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

The company has named John Garratt as its permanent chief financial officer. He had served as the chain’s interim CFO since June 2015, and was previously Dollar General’s senior VP of finance and strategy.

Rite Aid, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

The retailer added the role of chief administrative officer to responsibilities of senior executive vice president and chief financial officer Darren Karst. He assumes the duties previously held by Frank Vitrano, who will remain with the company as chief strategic business development officer.
