Circle K Helps Kick Off 'Share a Coke' Campaign

Circle K tied in to the May 8 observance of "National Have a Coke Day" by running a pair of promotions with Coca-Cola Co.'s flagship brand. 

On May 8, Circle K Easy Rewards loyalty members were encouraged to share — via Facebook, Twitter or email — an offer for a free 20-ounce Coca-Cola beverage through the retailer's mobile application to earn a free same-sized Coke. Participants have until May 23 to redeem the freebie. A May 8 email touted the offer, urging consumers to share a Coke with a teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week. 

Concurrently, the retailer also dangled a BOGO deal on 20-ounce Coke beverages. An update posted across the retailer's regional Facebook pages touted the one-day-only deal. In-store digital checkout signs supported. 

Extending the activity beyond the the day of the Coke holiday, Circle K is awarding shoppers who download its mobile application and sign up for its loyalty program from May 2 through Sept. 4 a free 20-ounce Coke. A promotional page within touts the offer.

The aforementioned promotions served to help kick off Coke's fifth consecutive “Share a Coke” summer campaign, which will for the first time include 20-ounce Coke bottles with name labels as stickers. Shoppers can peel off the stickers to obtain "Sip & Scan" codes for chances to instantly win prizes ranging from a free Coke to amusement park tickets. 

“In years past, we’ve found that once the campaign ends, people want to hold on to a memory,” said Jaideep Kibe, vice president, Coca-Cola Trademark, Coca-Cola North America, in a media release. “Thanks to this technology, these stickers extend the memory with something people can not only attach to their clothes, phones and more – but also scan to possibly win special summer experiences to share with others.”
